Watercolor DieCut Flowers

I am back today after a little break and my 2nd Stage Breast Cancer Reconstruction surgery. Everything went great and this time I was creating less than 48hrs after surgery.

I have 2 cards I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, the theme is Use Patterned Paper. It’s a great Challenge because I do tend to forget my patterned paper lately. If you want to get lots of inspiration and check out this Challenge click HERE.

I felt like creating with Watercolors and die cuts. I pulled out multiple shades of grey and silver/ Platinum Watercolors I have and started painting. I guessed at how much of each color I may need and went for light and dark shades of every color too. I saw so many beautiful colored flowers with these die cuts on Altenew’s Release that I wanted to do something different. All the paints I used are handmade/ handmulled, those have become my favorites. All other supplies are from Altenew.

The striped paper is from their Reflections Scrapbook Collection and the Peony 3D die was just released, it just arrived 2 days ago. I decided to leave the cards without a sentiment but may add something inside when I am ready to use them. I just wanted to leave them as is on the front.

My last picture shows the shimmer from those handmade/handmulled Watercolors.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you will come back soon. I also hope you enjoyed my creations-Jodi

Warmest Wishes

I am back today with an entry for the Card Challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

I love my Hero Arts Products and have a few Simon Says Stamp Supplies that I really love. I thought it would be fun to put them together. If you want to check out the blog and challenge click HERE.

First I pulled out the Simon Says Stamp Frozen Fractals Stencils. I ran them through my die cutting machine with an Embossing mat to create an embossed image. Then I used some Nuvo Mousse in Mother Of Pearl to add some shimmer and shine.

Next, I started my background. All of the stamps are from Hero Arts. I wanted to find stamps that look like snowflakes, they didn’t necessarily have to be snowflakes, but similar. Three of the stamps are from the November My Monthly Hero kit and two are from the Ornate Henna Patterns which is an add on with The December My Monthly Hero Kit. I stamped the images in Delicata Rose Gold then covered them in Clear embossing powder and heat them.

I then stamped the sentiment from that same November My Monthly Hero kit and used Hero Arts Pigment Ink in Unicorn. I assembled the card by die cutting the sentiment and framing the main image in Kraft cardstock.

Thank You for visiting today, I hope you like my entry. I am sending Warmest Wishes to  everyone in the New Year.

Bitty Bear Shaker Tags

I created some tags with my MFT Products to share for the Creative Construction with Blueprints Holiday Tags Challenge. I really like  shaker cards, and especially like them for Holiday or Winter themed creations. I love how they remind me of my Snowglobes from when I was young.

I started with the MFT Tag Builder Blueprints 6. I used that to diecut some older My Minds Eye Colorful Christmas Paper. Then I stamped and Copic colored some bears from the MFT Bitty Bear Stamp Set. Next I used the MFT Scenic Snow Globe to diecut some trees and hills. I used the MFT Snow Globe Sentiments to Stamp Sentiments on 2 of the Tags, then diecut the Happy Holidays Circle Frame for the 3rd Tag. I added a mix of some white glitter and snow sequins to the shaker area and glued everything together.

I made these for tags but hope they will end up being used as ornaments. If not I still want the back side to look finished. So I added some snowflakes from MFT Let It Snowflake Too on two of the the Tags that didn’t have patterned paper.....and that completed my tags.

If you want to take a look at this MFT Challenge you can click HERE. Thank You for visiting today and I hope you enjoyed my creations. Happy Holidays -Jodi

Warmest Wishes

Today I have a card for the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge. If you want to check out their site click HERE. This is the sketch for this Challenge....

I Copic colored and die cut a bunch of these MFT Bitty Bears a few weeks ago and put them somewhere....so the biggest challenge of this Challenge was finding them in my Christmas crafting piles. Once I found them this came together very quickly. I 💖love these bears and I have many other ideas for them....they are so fun & cute.

First I die cut the MFT Stitched Round Rectangle Frames out of some old My Minds Eye paper. Then I used some glitter paper from my stash and die cut two hills with the MFTScenic Snow Globe die set. Next I added 2 snowflakes from the MFT Snowflake Splendor Card Kit die cut from some glitter paper I created with white glitter paper and diy shimmer spray. I assembled everything and finished it off with 3 Sparkling Clear Snowflakes from Pretty Pink Posh.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you like my MFT Creation today. -Jodi

Peace Love & Joy

I have a card to share for the Color Throwdown Challenge #473. We were suppose to use pink, green, white and kraft. Here is the inspiration picture....

This Challenge is pretty easy for me, I really love these colors together. The problem was too many ideas. I will save this picture for when I need some inspiration in the future. I love these sets I used from Sunny Studio Stamps and I need to keep using them until Christmas, there are so many options. Here is what I came up with.

I used the Sunny Studio Stamp Sets Holiday Style and Merry Sentiments. Merry Sentiments has that layered Christmas light and the rest are from Holiday Style. First I stamped the Christmas tree branches with two different shades of Altenew Inks, Frayed Leaf & Forest Glades. I tried to add the darker color to the edges and branches, it worked pretty well only because I have a MISTI Stamping tool(that I ❤️ love). Next I did the multi layered lights and ornaments with Altenew’s Cherry Blossom set of 4 pink inks.

Next I assembled everything and added Clear Wink of Stella pen to the lights and ornaments. Over that I put irRESISTible shimmer pico embellisher. I wanted them to stand out and sparkle as much as possible.

I stamped the sentiment in Forest Glades then stamped over it with Versamark, then Heat embossed with Clear embossing powder. I diecut it with a stitched rectangle and went over the whole rectangle with Clear Wink of Stella. I applied it to a white top folding card...and I was done.

Thank you for your visit, I really appreciate it and hope you like my Creation.  If you want to check out The Color Throwdown Challenge click HERE. Hope to see you again -Jodi

Time Out For Reindeer

Today I have two cards made for the Time Out Challenge. They are both from the same stamp set, Cheerful Prancing by Unity Stamp Company. I also used my watercolors  from HWG Watercolors. This Challenge they provided a picture to inspire our creation.

If you want to visit the Time Out Challenge and get some great inspiration from the creations everyone made inspired by this picture click HERE.

I started by stamping and embossing the images, two different sentiments & two outlined and one solid reindeer. Then I watercolored them. I did an emboss resist on the first and colored in the reindeer and ground on the second.

I love these reindeer images and thought they would look great with these watercolors. I used the Blue from the Galaxy Set with the solid reindeer and the Woodlands Set for outlined reindeer. After they dried I used Waffle Flower dies to turn them into cards.

On the first I used the Nested Domes to make the card appear a little like a snow globe. I used Tim Holtz Gold cardstock for the trim and base of the card.

For the second card I used the Waffle Flower Lacey Layers die and some very old patterned paper from my stash to put everything together.

I had lot's of fun making these and I can't believe I haven't used this gorgeous Unity Stamp set yet. It will get a lot more use now. I hope you like my creations and thanks for your visit.

Look For The Stars

I have another MFT Challenge card to share today, this time it is for their sketch challenge. If you want to head over their just click HERE and go to their blog, then click on the Challenge and Inspiration area. It sounds hard but look on the right side of the page and you can't miss it.

Here is the sketch that we were suppose to follow.

I really didn't know what I wanted to do til the last minute, so I barely made it in time. When I saw this Star Die from MFT today I finally got my idea. It's another one that's not a Holiday card but I like how it turned out.

I started by watercoloring both layers of the card. The top layer was just a quick watercolor wash starting with Galaxy Grey. After that dried I added a little bit of Celestial Pink and Starlight Blue and was done. The layer below the stars is a "Galaxy" background technique with multiple layers of all three of these colors to achieve that look. The watercolors are handmade by a friend from Instagram, they are called hwg watercolors if you are interested. this photo is how this project started.

This is a great example of the different shades you can achieve with the same three colors.

All of my other supplies are from My Favorite Things (MFT). I diecut the stars with their new stitched star die. Then Cut down the darker background to fit behind the stars. Next I stamped the sentiment from Written In The Stars with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder on black cardstock and cut these down to fit over the stars. I assembled everything and then added the sequins which is Pretty Pink Posh Starry Night Mix.

Again, this card has much more shimmer in person. The watercolors are full of shimmer and I will put more pictures below to try to show you a little more...but it is SO much better in person.

Hope you liked my Star / Galaxy watercolor card for MFT's sketch challenge and you will stop bye to visit again. Thank you for stopping bye, I really appreciate it. -Jodi

Watercolor Sympathy

I have a card to share for a Color Challenge over on the My Favorite Things Challenge site. They have a few different challenges and tone of inspiration, so if you would like to check it out click Here And then click on the right side of the blog that says MFT Challenge and Inspiration Blog.  This is the color Palette for the Challenge.

When I saw this I knew just what I wanted to do. I recently got some products that are new to me and three of the four were in that palette. They are from Shimmerz and they are actually dimensional paints, but I wanted to see what they would do if I tried them like watercolors with an embossed stamped image. I used the color I didn't have in the paste for the ink color of the stamp and then clear embossed over it. I started with watercolor paper stamped with Altenew Citrus Burst Ink and then their Clear Embossing powder. I used MFT's Roses All Over Background Stamp.

Next came the painting of the flowers with Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Dreamsicle, Sea U in the Morning and Gummy Bear Blue. I was going for a watercolor look for a sympathy card (something different from all my Holiday creations lately) and I think it went pretty well. These products have tons of shimmer and shine, one of the reasons I love them so much, that I will try to show better in pictures at the end.

When I finished painting I inked the edges of the card
base with more of the Altenew Citrus Burst Ink so I will have a matching border around the main image. I also inked some cardstock to see if I wanted the sentiment to have a white or yellow background.

Then I used the MFT Stitched Oval Word Windows to cut a window into the main image to be able to see the sentiment through it. I decided on the white background and the sentiment is from MFT's Deepest Sympathy, it fit perfectly in the stitched window. then I put everything together.

I always have a hard time coming up with sympathy card themes, I guess nothing ever seems appropriate. I decided to just go for it and start creating them and see how I like them, because unfortunately they are often needed. I hope you like my color challenge creation and I thank you for visiting my creative space. I have a few more pictures below to try to show how shimmery and beautiful this end product looks with these Shimmerz products...I love them :)  -Jodi

Icy Inspiration

I have an Art Journal page to share with you today. This weeks Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Icy Inspiration. Click HERE to join in and find lots of inspiration. I love working in my Art Journal and decided it had been way too long, this theme also sounded perfect to me.

For this project I used multiple stencils along with shimmer sprays, dimensional paste and textured paste. All of the pigmented items are from Shimmerz. They are the perfect brand for me, because as in their name....all of their products have lots of shimmer :).

I used my journal with black paper in it and started out by covering the pages with White Gesso. When that was dry, I sprayed the the pages with Shimmerz Vibez Spray in Frost Blue and Snow Storm. (when I am creating in my art journal with sprays / pastes I always put a used mailing envelope in between or under the pages, it protects with the bubble wrap in it and saves some mess from the other pages, along with recycling)

Next I started the scene with Echo Park Christmas Night stencil and Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Sea U in the Mornin' on the top, and on the bottom the MFT hills and drifts stencil with Shimmerz Texturez in Gritty Graphite. Then another layer of both of the Vibez sprays I used before....and let dry overnight.

Then came the pine trees. They were created with Echo Park Pine Tree stencil and Shimmerz Texturez in Teal Me No Lies. then another coat of both the blue and white sprays. they did cover the trees a little so I had to dab them. This made them not quite so perfect looking as right after the stencil, which I preffered. I also added Teal Texturez under the pine trees and around the hills and drifts lines. I sprayed quite a bit again so I had to let it dry overnight again.

I added snow with some Prima Snowflake Paste next. First I used The Crafters Workshop Mini Microbial stencil on the right and top left page, then I added some with a palette knife to hills, drifts and trees.

I liked it how it was here, but being a cardmaker for so long, I felt like it needed word(s). I wasn't sure what would show up the best so I tried white glitter cardstock and regular cardstock. Sprayed both with Shimmerz Frost Blue Vibez and decided the regular cardstock was best.

I felt that PEACE described this winter countryside scene, and that was the finishing touch. I diecut those out of the sprayed paper with Altenews Calligraphy die set.

I hope you like my wintery scene. I like it enough I wish I would have done it on a canvas, but I guess I could always transfer it. As always, it looks so much better and has much more Shimmer in person. I have a camera that I am just getting used to, so hopefully in the future all of the photos will be much better. Thank you for stopping bye. -Jodi
